Carrying on the legacy of the Dinner Gala event for WSA’s 22nd installment of the Roy Firestone Award, the organization will be honoring Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
WSA could not be more excited to partner with the UCLA Bruins and Los Angeles Lakers legend. Abdul-Jabbar won three consecutive NCAA Championships in ’67, ’68, and ’69, while being recognized a record three times as MVP. He went on to win six NBA Championships in ’71, ’80, ’82, ’85, ’87, and ’88 while earning six MVP award honors. Since his basketball career, Kareem has accomplished as much as any former athlete and was recently awarded with the nation’s highest civilian honor, The Presidential Medal of Freedom, by President Barack Obama last year.
