Kareem Talks about Writing’s On The Wall to People Magazine

October 7, 2016

Why We Must Unify

In his new book Writings on the Wall,  social activist and NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar shares his thoughts on a U.S. still rife with racism. “Until we get back to making the American dream accessible for everyone, we cannot move forward with a new equality.”

His solution? “Dialogue.  It’s America’s answer. We’ve lost the ability to talk to each other without being arrogant or impatient.”

Though he says conditions have improved since he boycotted the 1968 Olympics to protest inequality, he’s counting on millennials to bring about more change.  “They have to get it.  They need a road map of what’s possible–and how to get there.”
