Kareem Abdul-Jabbar will host a reception in a private suite at the New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox game on Sunday, September 27, 2009 at Yankee Stadium. Game time is 1:05 PM EST. Joining him will be Baseball Hall of Famer and former Yankee Reggie “Mr. October” Jackson, Academy Awards nominated director Spike Lee and actor Jesse L. Martin. All proceeds will benefit Abdul-Jabbar’s Skyhook Foundation.
“I am honored to have my opening charity event at Yankee Stadium as I think it adds a lot of stature to what I am trying to do” stated Abdul-Jabbar. “I couldn’t be more pleased that the Yankees are supporting my effort to improve people’s lives through sports and education.” Each VIP ticket includes signed memorabilia, photos with the celebrities, hosted bar and buffet. However, the greatest perk of the game is to watch the New York Yankees battle their long-time rivals the Boston Red Sox with some of New York’s biggest icons.
