Join me on Saturday January 23rd @ 2 p.m. the Sundance Tweet House for an in-depth discussion about my upcoming documentary film based on my best-selling book, On the Shoulders of Giants. On the Shoulders of Giants (click here for the trailer) showcases the astounding outburst of creative energy known as the Harlem Renaissance, and tells the story of the Harlem Rens, a team that came from the heart of it, and was “the greatest basketball team you never heard of.” I will discuss how Twitter has been an integral resource for promoting On the Shoulders of Giants and for developing support for my charity, the Skyhook Foundation. We will feature a sneak peek at scenes from On the Shoulders of Giants and meet and greet with Emmy award winning actor Beau Bridges who narrates the film. Joining us will be the film’s producer and director, Deborah Morales.
The Skyhook Foundation
I created the Skyhook Foundation because I firmly believe that the common attributes underlying academic and athletic excellence (Discipline, Leadership, Teamwork, Sportsmanship and Conflict Resolution) are essential for ensuring the positive growth and development of our youth.
The Skyhook Foundation is working to help youth embrace these attributes through the Skyhook Foundation’s B.E.S.T. (Building Education and Sports Together) Program which combines the highly successful College Bound© program of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor with an elite all-star traveling basketball program for middle and high school youth.
I hope you will join me in helping to provide a path to excellence for youth who are striving for a bright future. Click the donate button below to receive your autographed copy of On the Shoulders of Giants and audio CD for a donation of $75.00 to the foundation. I’m truly looking forward to showcasing the documentary with our youth as the Harlem Rens were exemplary role models for Skyhook Foundation’s mission.
