Hollywood Reporter Tops National Arts and Entertainment Journalism Awards With 56 Noms
THR is nominated for best publication, best website and journalist of the year for Gary Baum.
The Hollywood Reporter has topped the nominations for the 10th annual National Arts and Journalism Awards with a total of 56 mentions, including best publication, best website and journalist of the year for Gary Baum.
THR also scored three mentions for best blog tied to an organization: The Race (Scott Feinberg), THR, Esq. (Eriq Gardner and Ashley Cullins) and Live Feed (Lesley Goldberg and Kate Stanhope).
Additionally, Jon Frosch is nominated for best film/TV critic, David Rooney is up for best theater critic and
“Locked and Loaded: The Gun Industry’s Lucrative Relationship with Hollywood” is nominated in several categories, including best multimedia package (Victoria McKillop, Jennifer Laski, Scott Johnson, Ryan Heraly and Baum), best feature longer than five minutes (Baum, Johnson, Laski, Stephanie Fischette and McKillop), best page layout (Peter Cury and Shanti Marlar) and best documentary or special program, short (Baum, Johnson, Laski, Fischette and Victoria McKillop).
Meanwhile, Baum also was nominated for best industry/arts investigative story, any media platform, for “What Really Happened to Ronni Chasen?” “Ronnie Chasen” (Baum, Laski, Fischette, Natalie Heltzel and Victor Klaus) also is nominated for best hard or breaking news in the TV/video/film categories. Seth Abramovitch also was nominated in the same category, for “Friars Club Under Fire: Inside a Showbiz Institution.”
Goldberg’s “It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s…$100,000, Easy!” was nominated for best arts or entertainment related business story, any media platform, while Stephen Galloway is up for best celebrity investigative piece for “Johnny Depp: A Star in Crisis.”
In the obituary/appreciate category, THR scored two noms: Chris Gardner for “Robert Osborne: The THR Years” and Kim Masters for “Brad Grey.”
In the print categories, celebrity news category, Baum also is up for “DiCaprio, Brando and the Missing Oscar.” Lacey Rose and Marisa Guthrie are nominated for best hard or breaking news for “Billy Bush Is Ready to Talk About the Tape,” along with Kalee Thompson for “SoCal’s Chinese Womb Boom.”
Patrick Brzeski is nominated for “The Chairman Will See You Now” in the category of best personality profile, more than 2,500 words, while Gardner’s “Nanci Ryder Has This to Say: ‘F–, F–, F–” is nominated for best personality profile less than 2,500 words.
Rose and Abramovitch are nominated for best industry/arts feature, more than 1,000 words, TV/Film, for “SNL’s Bigly Season” and “Little People, Big Woes,” respectively. The latter also is nominated for best personality profile in the TV/film/video categories for Abramovitch, Laski, Fischette, Heltzel and Tanner DiGirolamo.
